    Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026 8:30 am - 2 pm | $40 Instructor: Jillena Hanson Cloquet Middle School—Room C141, Enter Door #1 Enter door #1, turn left, second door on the right side of the hallway. Please bring bag lunch, water, notebook & pencil Dress comfortably If possible, please bring your own doll. (Cabbage Patch sized doll is good) This course gives current and future babysitters (ages 11-16) the skills and confidence to care for infants, toddlers and school-age children. We will use videos, hands-on activities, and problem solving. Babysitter's Training teaches youth how to: Handle emergencies, accidents and illnesses with first aid & CPR Recognize safety and injury prevention Communicate with parents Supervise young children Feed, diaper and care for infants Remain safe as the sitter Scholarships are available to attend this class.   • CATS & Crafts w/Carlton County Animal Rescue

    Join Carlton County Animal Rescue volunteers and ASE staff to learn about what animal rescue is, why it’s super important, and how to be Junior Rescuers. Visits will entail fun filled activities including meeting current animals being fostered in rescue, a topic connected with animal rescue, and decorating fun ceramics that will be fired in our kiln and delivered to students within 2 weeks at school. Fun will be expected to be had while learning these important things! Carlton County Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue that serves animals in need throughout Carlton County. After not having a shelter for over 5 years, CCAR started, and the community supported it with open arms. One of the important parts of CCAR is its junior volunteers and creating future animal rescuers. Our youth play vital roles in helping the animals in care from providing love/safety, helping take care of them, and helping share the importance of animal safety with others. For the second year, CCAR looks forward to working with students to educate the importance of animal safety, why Carlton County Animal Rescue exists, how they can help community animals, and create various fun enrichment things for foster animals to play with. Please note that this class will have cats present. If your child is allergic or afraid of animals, please do not enroll them. Dates Wednesday, October 8: Dog Plate (6½" L x 4¾" W x 7¾" H) and Cat Face Plate (6 ⅛" W x 5 ⅜" L x ¾" H). Students will glaze these in class, and they will be returned to students within 2 weeks at school to bring home. Wednesday, December 10: Sassy Cat (4" L x 2 ¾" W x ¼" H) & Paw Print (3 ⅛"D x ⅝"H) ornaments.     Community Education Scholarships for Middle & High School Students Community Education is pleased to offer scholarships for middle and high school students, made possible through funding from Carlton County Public Health and Human Services as part of the Opiate Settlement initiative. These scholarships are designed to help youth participate in positive, healthy activities that foster confidence, teamwork, and strong community connections.   • Drone Flying

    Join us for an exciting drone-flying adventure! Enroll your child to learn how to expertly control drones, whether they’re beginners or have some experience. Each session includes thrilling challenges like obstacle courses, precision landings, and team relay races, with fun increasing as they progress. Remember, attending the first class is important for an excellent drone introduction. Classes will take place indoors. Students will meet in the Community Education Office directly after school and will be brought to the high school cafeteria after a snack. Classes take place right after school and run until 5:00 PM. Pick up is in front of the Community Education Office. Signing up for this class means that your child will attend the following days: Monday, April 27 Tuesday, April 28 Wednesday, April 29 Thursday, April 30 The fee for this class is $100 and that includes instruction, a drone that students will get to keep on the last day of class and a small snack after school. What if my child took this class in the fall and has their same drone still? Students that have already taken the Drone Class through Cloquet Community Education in the fall and still have their drone can register for the class for $50.00. Scholarship Opportunity We have $100 and $50 limited scholarships available for students receiving educational benefits.     Embark on epic adventures in the Dungeons & Dragons Club! Whether you’re brand new to tabletop role-playing games or a seasoned adventurer, this club is the perfect place to roll dice, tell stories, and use your imagination. Players will learn the basics of character creation, storytelling, and cooperative gameplay while exploring fantasy worlds together. Each session offers opportunities to develop creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills—all while having a great time. No prior experience or materials are required; just bring your curiosity and sense of adventure! Everything will be provided! This class is open to students in grades 6-8. Students that receive educational benefits are able to receive a $15.00 scholarship towards the cost of this class.     Northern Outdoors Club owner, Cassie Janke, will teach students about outdoor education, recreation & safety here at Churchill Elementary. It is imperative that your child brings appropriate outdoor gear to enjoy these outdoor classes. Dates/Classes Wednesday, October 8: Survival Paracord Bracelet **For 3rd and 4th graders only** Learn how to make a 5-in-1 Survival Paracord Band- a take & keep at home project- equipped with 8 ft. of 550 lb. tested paracord rope, compass, whistle, flint & steel. Many colors available to customize your craft! A great tool for any outdoor enthusiast to have or a crafter wanting to learn a new weave knot! If we have time, we can put your fire making skills to the test! Wednesday, November 12: Bag of Bones Learn for a little bit about creatures of the night- especially the owl! Then, dive into a hands-on activity to see what owls are hunting throughout the night. Wednesday, December 10: Weird & Wild Creatures When the wintery winds gust & blow, we will check out some MN animal pelts, bones, & artifacts! Then, we will have a blast playing a card game involving tons of weird n’ wild creatures, including what you might find in nightmares of nature, monsters of the past, tiny terrors & so much more! With the unpredictable weather, this is a different kind of Northern Outdoors class, but it's sure to be just as fun & hands-on!
