Our BeachPinehurst Park is a great place to go for a swim with filtered, chlorinated water and a sand-bottom. Located in Cloquet, Minnesota. Just off Hwy 33 - at the intersection of 33 and Carlton Avenue.
Northern Outdoors Club owner, Cassie Janke, will teach students about outdoor education, recreation & safety here at Churchill Elementary. It is imperative that your child brings appropriate outdoor gear to enjoy these outdoor classes.

Wednesday, October 8: Survival Paracord Bracelet **For 3rd and 4th graders only**
Learn how to make a 5-in-1 Survival Paracord Band- a take & keep at home project- equipped with 8 ft. of 550 lb. tested paracord rope, compass, whistle, flint & steel. Many colors available to customize your craft! A great tool for any outdoor enthusiast to have or a crafter wanting to learn a new weave knot! If we have time, we can put your fire making skills to the test!
Wednesday, November 12: Bag of Bones
Learn for a little bit about creatures of the night- especially the owl! Then, dive into a hands-on activity to see what owls are hunting throughout the night.
Wednesday, December 10: Weird & Wild Creatures
When the wintery winds gust & blow, we will check out some MN animal pelts, bones, & artifacts! Then, we will have a blast playing a card game involving tons of weird n’ wild creatures, including what you might find in nightmares of nature, monsters of the past, tiny terrors & so much more! With the unpredictable weather, this is a different kind of Northern Outdoors class, but it's sure to be just as fun & hands-on!
