Cloquet Community Education

Cloquet Community Education is offering Drivers Education Scholarships to help students in need of financial assistance. These scholarships are made possible through funding provided by Carlton County Public Health and Human Services as part of the Opiate Settlement. Scholarship Details: Scholarships will cover 50% of the Drivers Education enrollment cost. Families will be responsible for the remaining $235 balance. Scholarships are limited to three (3) students per section Application Deadlines: December 31, 2025 – for the January class March 13, 2026 – for the April class Selection Process: If the number of applicants exceeds available scholarships, recipients will be randomly selected. Families may wait to register for the class until they are notified about scholarship awards. Additional Information: Unused scholarships will roll over to the next Drivers Education section. This scholarship program is funded by Carlton County Public Health and Human Services and administered by Cloquet Community Education. Please register the student for the application, not the parent. Cloquet Community Education offers Drivers Education to Cloquet (including CAAEP) and Fond du Lac students only. We do verify enrollment. If you are open enrolled in our district, you must call the Community Education office to enroll in the class at 879-1261. Get ready to hit the road with our exciting and engaging Driver's Education program! This comprehensive course offers 30 hours of interactive classroom instruction, where you'll learn all the essentials of safe driving, plus six hours of hands-on behind-the-wheel training to build your confidence and skills on the road. Class participation is key—attendance is mandatory, as completing the full 30 hours of classroom instruction is required before you can take the permit test. Once you've successfully finished the classroom portion, you'll be paired with a professional Behind the Wheel instructor, and you'll receive your blue E-card, giving you the green light to take your permit test and start your driving journey! Join us and start your road to independence with the skills and knowledge you'll need to drive safely and confidently. Classroom instructor: Dave Esse Behind-the-Wheel instructors (assigned by coordinator): Dave Esse and David Wangen When registering please use the student’s full legal name (including middle name) and student's date of birth as shown on their birth certificate. If you choose to make payments on the class fee, the second payment will be due October 1 for the September class, February 1 for the January class, and May 1 for the April class.
