Power Lunch Program
The state of Minnesota requires a health and developmental screening for every child before kindergarten entry into public school.
Next Screening Dates: February 18, 19, 20 2025
If your child is between 3 and 4, now is the optimum age to be screened so children can then be referred to appropriate resources, if needed.
If your child is entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2025, the August 2025 screening will be the last time in which you can schedule an appointment for your child.
Early Childhood Educators and a registered nurse conduct the screening. Screening is a quick and simple check of how a child is growing and developing.
The Screening Includes:
The screening process takes approximately 1- 1/2 hours during which time your child will separate from you. They will meet with the Early Childhood Educator to participate in a Developmental Screening. Your child will then have his/her vision and hearing checked by the nurse. Parents, will remain in the registration room until after the screening. A screener will conduct the summary interview to address any concerns, if any, regarding your child’s development and health, after which you will receive a copy of the summary of the screening.
