  • Adults with Disabilities (AWD)

    Program Policies & Guidelines Participants must be accompanied during the Community Education activity or class, by caregivers, group home staff, SILS, DRCC, Trillium, etc. When applicable, aides need to be registered and paid for as well as their clients. Examples of this would be for Movie/Pizza, Cooking class, and other times where fees need to be paid for both the program participant and his/her aide who is accompanying. A client’s care provider must attend the event and supervise the client. Staff cannot leave clients unattended. Arrangements must be made through Community Education before a CE staff person will provide the care. Client must go through an independence-level criteria evaluation and enrollment is based upon open positions within the program. No Refunds will be made. Credits will be given for classes or activities that have been cancelled at least 2 days ahead of time AND if tickets or materials were not previously purchased. If tickets have already been purchased, no credits can be given. If materials have already been purchased, no credits will be given, but the materials will be sent home if possible. It will be the responsibility of the group home or participant’s caregivers to arrange for someone to pick up these materials during the actual class time. You will be notified if classes, trips, or activities are cancelled due to inclement weather. Please plan to attend unless Community Education calls you. If Cloquet Public Schools are cancelled due to weather, all AWD Program classes are cancelled as well. Pre-registration is required for all Community Education events. No walk-ins please—except for the dances! Payment options are available upon request. All prior quarter registration fees must be paid in full before a current quarter registration will be accepted.

After School Clubs fill up quickly. They are open to children from all schools and area towns in grades Early-5 through 4th grade. We will be offering a variety of clubs like: snack attack, bowling, science, art, swimming, pumpkin carving and computers. We are always looking for new class ideas and welcome suggestions.   • Age to Age - Power Lunch

    The Power Lunch Reading Program is a national literacy based mentoring program aimed at building reading skills and a love of reading among elementary students. Power Lunch matches community volunteers with first and second grade students at Churchill and Washington Elementary Schools. Students and volunteers share lunch together one day per week in the school's media center. They spend a brief time socializing, and then read together in an one-on-one setting.

    All ASE programs will meet in the Art Room directly after dismissal. Pick up is at 4:15 from Door #13 in the west parking lot off Arthur St. (Unless we are at the Warming House Or Mini Golf, then pick up at those locations) Teachers are sent a roster daily but a note from you is helpful.   • Facility and Park Rentals

    School Facilities Community Use of Facilities District schools and Cloquet city parks are the cornerstones of our neighborhoods and a vital resource within the community. Effective utilization of these buildings and parks as a community resource is cost effective and improves the quality of life for residents. Community Education schedules all community use of five buildings for Cloquet Area Schools during non-school hours. We welcome and encourage use of our facilities by the community. Please complete our online application to take the next step in reserving space in a district facility. As per Cloquet ISD #94 Facility Use Policy once you have completed the Facility Request Form every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate the request received twelve working days in advance of the proposed dates(s) of use.   • Swim Lessons

    Please note that our pool is a competition pool and so the water temperature is set lower to accommodate, especially between August - December. If unsure if you child would tolerate the cooler temperatures, please come to one of our Family Friday night swims. If you are signing up for Swim Lessons, please make sure the "receive text" box is checked. Parent and Child Aquatics: Ages 6 months to 4 years old Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1 (formerly Water Babies): Ages 6 months - 2 years. Familiarize participants with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. Provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water. Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2 (formerly Tadpoles): Ages 2 to 4 years - Builds on skills learned in Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1 Preschool Aquatics: Ages 4 to 6 Preschool Aquatics Level 1 (formerly Water Whales): Ages 4 to 6. Water adjustment, floating, entry, movement, safety, and listening skills. Preschool Aquatics Level 2 (formerly Jellyfish): Ages 4 to 6. Recommended for students who have passed Preschool Aquatics Level 1, but are not 6 years old. Build on and improve skills learned in Preschool Aquatics Level 1. Learn-to-Swim: Ages 6+ Level 1 - Introduction to Basic Water Skills (Ages 6+) Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water, develop safe practices around water. Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills Purpose: Gives students success with fundamental skills. Level 3 - Stroke Development Purpose: Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practices. Level 4 - Stroke Improvement Purpose: Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills. Level 5 - Stroke Refinement Refines skills learned in Level 4. Swim distances and stroke knowledge are increased. Participants refine skills of all six swimming strokes (i.e. front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke) Level 6 -Swimming and Skill Proficiency- Personal Water Safety: Refine strokes so participants swim them with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances. Learn how to prevent aquatic emergencies in various aquatics environments and to introduce and practice self rescue techniques
  • The Beach at Pinehurst Park

    Beach Passes - No need to carry a pass around! - You will check in by name each day you attend. Swim Areas The zero entry is great for little ones. Swim lanes and a 6 foot center depth - for swimmers of all levels. Facility & Activities Changing rooms, kiddie slides, sand volleyball court, shade umbrellas, picnic areas available. Safety The Beach follows American Red Cross safety guidelines. Lifeguards on duty. Beach-goers should use the buddy system and supervise young children at all times. Lifejackets are optional in the Canoe and Frog slide areas (indicated in red). For the rest of the pond, all Swimmers, 11 years old and younger will be required to wear a life jacket except children ages 9 - 11 can test out of wearing a jacket or be exempt if they have passed Level 4 Swim test with Cloquet Community Education. Only U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation devices may be worn in the water. 6 years and under need to be supervised by an adult that is in the water with them.12 years and up can come alone. We will have vending machines and ice cream available to purchase at the desk. Please no glass, alcoholic beverages, grills, potlucks or birthday cakes. The pavilion outside of the Beach is available to rent for birthday parties. In order to keep the area clean, we are asking for patrons to pack in, pack out.
