  • Beach Pass - Summer 2024

    Individual or Family pass for The Beach at Pinehurst Park. $109 Family pass for the 2024 season ($89 before May 20) $59 Individual pass ($49 before May 20) Each Family pass will allow up to 2 adults, and all children from the same household, access to The Beach during normal business hours. (Under age 1 is free) Please register each family member separately. Register the first adult at the price of the Family pass. Register the second adult and children as "additional family member" and include who the paying adult is on your pass. Your pass is kept in our software. You will check in each day you attend. Please note: All swimmers, 11 and under, will be required to wear a life jacket outside of the Canoe and Frog slide areas, or 9-11 year olds can test out of life jacket requirement, or show that they passed level 4 certificate issued by Cloquet Community Ed. Group Homes/Childcares: Please call 879-1261 to register. Summer 2024 price is $169 Private Rentals Beach Rules and FAQ Patrons can bring food to the Beach. We will have vending machines and ice cream available to purchase at the desk. Please no glass, alcoholic beverages, grills, potlucks or birthday cakes. The pavilion outside of the Beach is available to rent for birthday parties. In order to keep the area clean, we are asking for patrons to pack in, pack out. Beach is closed Wednesday, June 19th for Juneteenth. We have scholarships available for season passes for families that have a qualifying child who is receiving Educational Benefits. To apply for a scholarship, please go to this link. We will verify eligibility before awarding scholarships. If you receive a scholarship, you will be contacted.

    Friday Family Swim

    The Cloquet Middle School Pool is open to all ages on Fridays and is lifeguard supervised. Preregistration is required, no drop-in at the door will be accepted. Upon entering the school, please go directly to the pool to check in with the lifeguard before using the locker rooms. Registration closes at 4 pm on Fridays in order to be able to schedule lifeguards. 1. No children under the age of 14 will be admitted unless accompanied by an adult. (If the supervising adult is not swimming, no fee required for that adult) 2. Children under age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult while in the water. 3. Diving board will be open if we have a 3rd lifeguard on duty. 4. Safety Break at 7:15pm (or when necessary). 6:30-8:00 pm $5 person/night
  • Level 2 Group Lessons

    Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills Purpose: Gives students success with fundamental skills. Level 2 participants learn to: Enter water by stepping or jumping from the side Exit water safely using ladder or side Open eyes underwater, pick up submerged object Float on front and back Perform front and back glide Swim on side Roll over from front to back, back to front Tread water using arm and leg motions Swim on front and back using combined strokes. **These are 4 week mini sessions. Please know that children should take this class at least 3 times. Children need to be very comfortable in the water and will start moving to the deep end of the pool. They will need to know their strokes well before moving up to Level 3.
  • Lifeguard Certification information

    Do you have a teen looking for their first job? Do they like the water? If so, being a lifeguard is a wonderful first job or new job for a student! (Adults are also welcome to join our fun team!!) Teens must be 15 years old before they can work at the Beach or the CMS pool. If your teen is interested in working at the Beach or at the CMS pool during the school year, please have them complete this registration. We will reach out to them once we have the class dates/times. Preliminary swim test to go through certification includes the following: Basic Lifeguard*: Swim 300 yards (12 pool lengths) continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: Start in the water at the shallow end of the pool, and swim to the far end of the pool. Retrieve the 10-pound brick off the bottom of the deep end and return to the shallow end of the pool while swimming on your back with both hands on the brick. Upon arrival at the shallow end of the pool, exit the water without using the steps or ladder. Goggles are not allowed for this skill.

    Senior Lap Swim

    Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 7:00 - 8:00 am Qualified lifeguard always present. Pool is open to Lap Swimmers, Water Walkers/Joggers, & Water Aerobics. Monthly pass: $30 Quarterly pass: $80 Daily pass: $4 at the door, exact change only
  • Swim Camp

    Swim camps give kids the opportunity to build on specific skills needed for competitive swimming while also working on strength in and out of the pool. Students interested MUST be able to swim without any floatation devices, are able to swim comfortably in the deep end, and swim 25-50 yards without stopping depending on the swim camp level. Kids must have taken or completed Level 3 or 4 in swim lessons.
  • Swim Lesson Scholarship Application - Water Safety Grant 2024-25

    Cloquet Community Education was awarded a $24,000 Water Safety Grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. The purpose of this grant is to help reduce drownings by providing swim lessons, increased access to lifeguarded swim facilities, and to increase the number of teenagers/young adults certified as a lifeguard or water safety instructor. Scholarships are available only to those receiving Educational Benefits (formerly called Free and Reduced lunch). Eligibility will be verified with the school district your child attends. If you have not applied for Educational Benefits, please go to this link to do so. We can also help you access the online application in the Community Education office as well. Swim lesson scholarships are for ages 4 to 18. Priority will be given to those that have never participated in swim lessons. Depending on the demand for scholarships, if awarded you may apply for a second scholarship in case there are funds remaining. Scholarships are $100 and are to be used for swim lessons with any remaining amounts to be used for Friday Night Family Swims or towards another swim lesson. For example, if your child participates in 2 classes at $45 each, the remaining $10 can be used for Friday Night Family Swims. Or you can use the $10 towards a third swim lesson class.   • Teen Beach daily pass

    Registration for teens dropping in at the Beach who are purchasing a daily pass. Teens must be at least 12 years old to swim at the Beach without a parent present. Please register them and include emergency contact information before dropping them off. Daily pass is $5 and is paid at the Beach. Thank you.
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) class information

    Are you interested in getting certified to teach swim lessons? If so, we will hold a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) class as soon as we have enough interest. This course trains American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (TM) candidates to teach courses and presentations in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants progress. The courses and presentations include Parent and Child Aquatics Levels 1 and 2, Preschool Aquatics Levels 1 - 3, Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 - 6, three adult courses as well as the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses and more. To enroll, instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and successfully complete the precourse session which includes demonstration of swimming skill at Learn-to-Swim Level 4.
