    Thank you for your interest in teaching a class with Cloquet Community Education & Recreation. Teaching a class is a great way to share your knowledge and skills with youth and/or adults in our community. We expect you to have a passion for your subject and a level of professionalism that will reflect well on our school and community. If your application is accepted, you will be required to attend a class planning meeting with the program coordinator. In addition, a criminal background check through ISD #94 is required.     Mimi will teach you the time-honored art of making pasta from scratch. You'll also learn to make BOTH a creamy Alfredo sauce AND a delicious garlic tomato sauce to smother your freshly made noodles. Pair it with a fresh garden salad to balance out the meal.     Baklava is a traditional pastry dessert that is known for its sweet, rich flavor and flaky texture. Join us in this hands-on interactive class where you will cook virtually with Instructor Mimi, who is passionate about cooking in general. You will learn how to prepare a flavorful but easy Baklava dessert and you get to bake it in your own oven following your instructor’s guidelines.     Your creative kid is learning skills such as naming colors, showing affection and hopping on one foot. In our Creative Kids class we help your child develop these and many other skills through play, song, stories and movement. Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) recognizes that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. ECFE offers parents hands-on learning experiences and parenting discussions specific to their child's age that will help build the foundation for a lifetime of learning. What happens in an ECFE class? 1. Parent and child interaction time: A licensed early childhood teacher and assistant provide developmentally appropriate activities, songs and stories for parents and children to enjoy together. 2. Child time: A time devoted to learning through play and activities with licensed teachers and assistants while parents participate in a parent discussion time in a separate room. 3. Parent Time: Parents or caregivers participate in a discussion led by a licensed parent educator. Joys and challenges of parenting are shared and topic discussions are designed to address the developmental needs of each group. Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes meet once a week. Together, parents and children participate in activities and experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills. ECFE teachers use the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework and Early Childhood Indicators of Progress: Minnesota’s Early Learning Standards provided through the Minnesota Department of Education.     Drivers Education - Classroom and Behind The Wheel Instruction

    Registration opens May 1, 2024 for all classes. Cloquet Community Education offers Drivers Education to Cloquet (including CAAEP) and Fond du Lac students only. We do verify enrollment. If you are open enrolled in our district, you must call the Community Education office to enroll in the class at 879-1261. Program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind the wheel instruction. Class attendance is mandatory (if the student does not complete a full 30 hours of classroom they will not be able to take the permit test). Upon successfully completing the classroom instruction, students will be assigned a Behind the Wheel instructor and be issued their blue card in order to take the permit test. Classroom instructor: Dave Esse Behind-the-Wheel instructors (assigned by coordinator): Tim Stark, Dave Esse, David Wangen When registering please use the student’s full legal name (including middle name) and student's date of birth. If you choose to make payments on the class fee, the second payment will be due October 1 for the September class, February 1 for the January class, and May 1 for the April class.     Sunday, July 21, 2024 - 2:45 PM until game is done - Duluth Wade Stadium, 101 N. 35th Ave W, Duluth, MN 55807 $12 staff / $12 aide (Registration Deadline is Thursday, July 18th by 4:00PM—if you need to add tickets after, you can purchase them on your own at the stadium the day of the game if they are not sold out. ) Calling all baseball lovers! It’s time to cheer our local team on and we’ve planned a Sunday afternoon game so the hours won’t get to be so late. Tickets are for GENERAL ADMISSION (no backs on the seat) so first come, first serve for a place to sit. Snacks and beverages may be purchased and are NOT included in the price. A Community Education Staff member will be standing outside by the ticket area with your tickets at 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM. (If you arrive late, please check with the “Will Call” window for your tickets. Please arrive early to pick out a good seat! You MUST BE REGISTERED AHEAD OF TIME PLEASE!

  • Early Childhood Screening

    The state of Minnesota requires a health and developmental screening for every child before kindergarten entry into public school. Next Screening Dates: August 20, 21, 22 and February 18, 19, 20th 2025 If your child is between 3 and 4, now is the optimum age to be screened so children can then be referred to appropriate resources, if needed. If your child is entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2024, the August 2024 screening will be the last time in which you can schedule an appointment for your child. Early Childhood Educators and a registered nurse conduct the screening. Screening is a quick and simple check of how a child is growing and developing. The Screening Includes: Hearing and Vision Height and Weight Speech and Development Kindergarten Readiness A check of Immunization Records and Family Health Information. The screening process takes approximately 1- 1/2 hours during which time your child will separate from you. They will meet with the Early Childhood Educator to participate in a Developmental Screening. Your child will then have his/her vision and hearing checked by the nurse. Parents, will remain in the registration room until after the screening. A screener will conduct the summary interview to address any concerns, if any, regarding your child’s development and health, after which you will receive a copy of the summary of the screening.   • Gentle Yoga flow

    This class is designed to break down the foundations of yoga postures, allowing time to deepen awareness in the body and mind as we link breath and movement. We use an internal focus to bring calm and consciousness to the mind. We will work through seated (floor) and standing postures. We will be moving though some postures that are weight bearing on hands and knees. There will always be options to modify or advance poses depending on your level. It is always encouraged to listen to your body and avoid or modify poses when needed. We will end class with a well-deserved relaxation to integrate all the work we did and bring balance to the body.   • Guided Wild Mushroom Walk

    This class is ideal for folks that already have some basic knowledge of wild mushrooms or have previously taken the Wild Mushrooms 101 class and are looking for more practice foraging and identifying mushrooms in the field. In this class we will go on a guided hike with wild mushroom identification and foraging expert, Ariel Bonkoski, to practice identifying in the field and hopefully find some yummy, foraged finds to go home with! Students should come prepared in comfortable clothes and shoes to hike in and water. Optional things to bring are baskets, mesh bags, paper bags, etc. to carry mushrooms in during the hike and your wild mushroom field guides.

    Hand-pulled noodles are so much fun and they are much easier to make than you would think. In this online interactive class, you will learn 2 different techniques to pull noodles. We will make 2 types of hand-pulled noodles: Biang Biang and Lamian noodles. We’ll turn Biang Biang noodles into a noodle salad with chili sauce. We’ll turn Lamian noodles into miso noodle soup.

In this workshop, you will learn: my famous ‘10 Minute Miracle Exercise’ series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density; decrease 2 inches off saddlebag area in 2 weeks; trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight; breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism; acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have time/money/inclination to haul yourself to a gym several times a week, you will love these powerful and effective techniques.
